Greater Bay Area in the new five-year plan, long-range goals

The full text of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee’s proposals for mapping out a blueprint for China’s development in the next 15 years was made public on Tuesday.

China aims to achieve a set of social and economic objectives over the next five years, according to the full text of the Party leadership’s development proposals. And Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will realize the following goals.

National strategic strength in science and technology

In order to intensify the national strategic strength in science and technology, focus on core technologies and improve the overall efficiency of the innovation chain, China will support the formation of international science and technology innovation centers in Beijing, Shanghai, and the Greater Bay Area.

To advance coordinated regional development

China will create new comprehensive national science centers and regional highland of innovation, and support the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Greater Bay Area.

To maintain lasting prosperity, stability in Hong Kong, Macao

Support will be given to the two special administrative regions in enhancing their competitive edges and integrating their own development into the overall development of the country, and to boost high-quality Greater Bay Area development. Also, policies will be improved to facilitate Hong Kong and Macao residents to live and work in the mainland.
